Paranormal Reserve III

The Paranormal Reserve is back, and it's more haunted than ever. This limited edition collection of Harridan Vodka was rested for a month in two of America’s most haunted asylums: the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia and the Pennhurst Asylum in Pennsylvania. Comprising 700 bottles split between the two famously haunted locations, this release will not return once it has sold out.

Each Paranormal Reserve set includes:

  • A bottle of 88-proof Harridan Vodka hand-numbered with the location in which it rested
  • A bespoke wood case
  • A prescription pad
  • Gloves for safe handling
  • An authenticity card
A portion of proceeds from this Reserve were donated to the Pennhurst Memorial and Preservation Alliance, which both memorializes the history of Pennhurst and advocates for the disabled community in the present, as well as the Friends Auxiliary of William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital. in West Virginia, which raises awareness of mental illness and offers support to those struggling with severe symptoms resulting in in-patient treatment

Haunted Asylum

Harridan Vodka has done it once again, the Paranormal Reserve of 2024 is possibly the creepiest edition yet. When Bridgette and Adriana approached me for this year's Paranormal Reserve packaging design, I just couldn't resist! Such an interesting theme really deserved a well-thought out concept and visuals. I immediately started researching haunted asylums of the past.

After gathering plenty of insights, visual inspo, and lots of creepy concepts, I sent the Harridan team my ideas for the packaging concept:

  • Old-style medicine/perscription bottles.
  • Typewriter text/blotched/scratched out, off-white/aged paper background with black ink, some red details.
  • Neck tag with some graphic detail, and creepy scrawled nurse handwriting (a nod to Nurse Ratched).
  • Red wax for the lid of the bottle.
  • The gloves to handle the bottle are velvety, maybe that greenish blue color that are used in hospitals.
  • Box that looks like an old medicine chest/first aid supply.

In my research I found that there used to be lobotomy kits, that were kept in wooden cases! This was my inspiration for the wooden box that would house the bottle.

The whole set came together in a magnificently haunted manner. Would you dare take a sip?
